A conventional bridge is held in place by relying on surrounding teeth. The bridge is a method of replacing one or more teeth in the same area by connecting crowns to the neighbouring natural teeth. This requires the natural teeth to be filed in order for them to support the bridge. The filing down of natural teeth can be damaging, but an alternative is using dental implants as supports for the bridge. Where multiple teeth are missing in one area, dental implants can provide an anchor for a bridge to be connected to, reducing the damage on your healthy teeth.
